The resources listed here can be accessed without a GP referral and are designed to support a range of issues people may be experiencing with their mental health.
Wellbeing for Warwickshire - Get Help Now
Wellbeing for Warwickshire is a low-level, early intervention service. If you are worried or concerned for yourself or someone you know, find specialist support, when you need it – any time of day or night - click on the photo
Coventry & Warwickshire Safe Haven provides information about free telephone (024 7601 7200) or face-to-face support across the region. Currently, our most local face-to-face drop-in is in Warwick, although one is planned for Stratford in the near future.
Wellbeing For Warwickshire provides emotional support for all residents of Warwickshire, on 0800 616 171 (Freephone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
The Recovery and Wellbeing Academy
A really good resource offering a wide range of free face to face and online courses and workshops designed to empower mental health and wellbeing
Their range of courses is wide, including stress, trauma, anxiety awareness, worry management, introduction to depression, living with long term conditions, understanding self-harm, positive thinking, sleep, introduction to menopause, coping with change, wellbeing in pregnancy/new parent, understanding and embracing neurodivergence, plus many more - click on the photo
Adults 16y+: NHS Talking Therapies
For people over 16 years-old suffering from stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health problems, the local Talking Therapies team can provide free support and counselling.
You can self-refer using their website and clicking on "Self Referral". You can also telephone them on 02476 671090.
Once they have your details, they will arrange for a therapist to call you back to discuss your problems. They can then arrange for support and therapy to help treat your symptoms through a variety of different options.

Adults 50y+: Age UK
For people aged 50 years or older, Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire provide free counselling support - more information on their website, via email (info@ageukcovwarks.org.uk) or by calling 02476 231999.
For those aged 55 and over, Age UK also provide their Silver Line, a free confidential telephone service for older people, providing friendship, conversation and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: 0800 4 70 80 90. Please note the Silver Line is not a counselling service, but aims to reduce loneliness and provide signposting to support if appropriate.

Children and Young People (under 16y)

Mental health and emotional support for children/young people is primarily delivered through schools. Parents and care-givers can access further advice and support via the Dimensions tool, or can speak to a member of the Primary Mental Health Team for Warwickshire: to book a parent consultation call the Primary Mental Health Team on: 07917 504682 or email to request via risecommunityoffer@covwarkpt.nhs.uk.

Other Counselling

New Hope Counselling. New Hope is a Christian charity based in South Warwickshire offering confidential and affordable counselling - find out more on their website.
Private counselling. If you're looking for a private counsellor or therapist, we recommend using the therapist directory available from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) to help you find someone who is appropriately trained and accredited.
Sleep problems, insomnia
Support for insomnia
Free support is available for people with sleep difficulties through self-referral online or by calling 02476 671 090 (Lines are open from 9 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday).
The NHS website also provides useful information and guidance for people with sleep problems.
Alcohol or drug support
Change, Grow, Live (CGL) - support for alcohol or drug problems
Free and confidential support for problems with drugs or alcohol is available through CGL ("Change, Grow, Live") who are based in Leamington. Call them on 01926 353 513, email Warwickshire.Info@cgl.org.uk or find out more online. You can refer yourself or someone else.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
Group support for people worried about their alcohol intake and who want to stop drinking, as well as support for their families and friends. Find out more about the local groups in Coventry & Warwickshire.
Further support (incl. children and young people)
Warwickshire County Council commission services and provide links to support services for those dealing with the effects of alcohol or drugs, including services for children and young people.
Bereavement support
Shipston Home Nursing Bereavement Support
Shipston Home Nursing can provide trained bereavement support. Contact the surgery online or by telephone to speak to one of our team if you would like a referral to their services.
Bereavement Cafe - Kineton
Bereavement peer support, hosted by St Peters Church, Kineton.
Meetings are held at Kineton Scout Hut, Park Piece, Kineton CV35 0NT, every Monday 2.00-3.30pm, commencing January 2025.

Cruse
Cruse is a national charity providing a variety of support for people who have lost a loved one, whether recently or a long time ago. Our local office covers Coventry & Warwickshire. There is also a national freephone helpline (0808 808 1677) and CruseChat (online chat).

Living Well with Dementia in Warwickshire - a directory of services
Useful information about local support, services and carer information all in one place. Living Well with Dementia includes details of weekly activities happening across the region to support people with dementia and their carers.
Alzheimer's Society
A wealth of information and support is available from the Alzheimer's Society, including details of their Dementia Support Line (0333 1503456).
VASA dementia day care - memory club
Dementia day care activities run at Ettington Lodge in Wellesbourne three times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday at 10am-3pm). Check details on the VASA website.
Wellesbourne dementia friends café
Dementia friendly cafes offer tea and coffee, a chat, friendship and support for people living with dementia, carers, family and friends. Every Wednesday, 2pm-4pm in Wellesbourne Village Hall. Free admission and free tea/coffee. Check details on the Talk Dementia website.
Dementia-friendly music and singing
Music & Singing is known to help unlock memories, improve mood and well-being, whilst stimulating cognitive pathways in people living with dementia (and their carers too!). Join us for some fun at Wellesbourne Village Hall - the 1st Tuesday of every month from 2pm - 3.30pm. Free admission and free tea/coffee. Check details on the Talk Dementia website.
